The Private Client Services Guide: The Hunt & The Inner Circle
1. The Haberdasher’s Manifesto
I am a former US Navy engineer. I value durability over trends and precision over guesswork. Most of the modern fashion industry is built on "vanity sizing" and planned obsolescence—garments designed to fail before the season turns. I have no interest in disposable rags. My mission is the technical reclamation of heritage menswear: flannels with history, blazers with backbone, and denim that is broken in, not broken down.
We champion the "High-Low" mix. This is about utility—serviceable for both the flight deck and the wardroom. True quality does not expire. Whether it is a Zegna suit or a Brooks Brothers blazer, these icons were built to last decades. My job is to find them, inspect them, and put them back into rotation for the modern gentleman.
"Most men own more than they need, but not enough they value."

2. The Hunt: Precision Sourcing for the Discerning Client
"The Hunt" is a customized alert system based on the Golden Rule: Trust the Tape, Not the Tag. Vintage sizing is inconsistent; a "42R" from 1990 is not a "42R" from 2024. We source based on spec-compliance, not the label.
The Vital Statistics
To initiate The Hunt, we request you provide measurements using the "Flat Lay Method"—measure a garment you already own that fits perfectly. We require the following data points:
-
Pit-to-Pit (Chest): Measure across the chest from one underarm seam to the other.
-
Shoulder Width: Across the top of the back, seam to seam.
-
Sleeve Length: From the top shoulder seam down to the cuff edge.
-
Front Length: From the bottom of the collar nape to the front hem.
-
Waist Size: Actual inches across the waistband (not your vanity size).
-
Height Profile:
-
Short (S): 5’2” – 5’6”
-
Regular (R): 5’7” – 5’11”
-
Long (L): 6’0” – 6’5”
-
Tie Length Preferences:
-
Short: < 56"
-
Standard: 57"–58"
-
Long: 60"+
Style Disciplines
Select from these four categories to focus the search:
-
European Luxury: Masters of fabric like Canali and Zegna.
-
American Classic: Icons like Brooks Brothers, Ralph Lauren, and Hickey Freeman.
-
Modern Tailoring: Slimmer silhouettes from brands like Banana Republic or J. Crew.
-
Vintage: Ivy Prep, Union Made, and period-specific tweed.
The Alert Cadence
Matches are dispatched via email 1-2 times per week when inventory "hits the floor."

3. The Inner Circle: Membership Privileges
The Inner Circle is for clients who demand priority. It provides a strategic advantage in securing one-of-a-kind inventory. Inner circle membership is automatically upgraded when a client purchases 5 items or cumulative historical purchases of $450 or greater.

4. The Rules of Engagement: Shipping & The Backroom
We operate with a "Zero Surprises" standard. Every garment is personally handled to ensure it is spec-compliant before dispatch.
-
The Backroom Process: Every item undergoes a mandatory professional inspection and steam prep. We verify fabric integrity and structure. Note: This prep requires 1 business day before dispatch.
-
Dispatch Speed: Orders placed by 11:00 AM EST (Mon–Sat) are dispatched the same day after the Backroom Prep is complete.
-
Strategic Packaging: Structured jackets are never stuffed into poly mailers. We use spacious boxes to ensure shoulder pads and canvas chest pieces are not crushed.
-
Shipping Methods (Lower 48):
-
Standard Ground: 2–7 business days.
-
Expedited: 2–5 business days.
-
The Handshake Point (Freight Forwarding): We ship exclusively to the U.S. and its territories. If you use a freight forwarder, our responsibility for the item’s condition and delivery ends at the U.S. address provided on the order.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. The Bearded Yankee Guarantee: Returns & Cancellations
If a piece does not fit your rotation, we provide a tiered return window. Items must be unworn, unaltered, and have original tags attached.
-
Days 1–14 ("On the House"): Free return shipping.
-
Days 15–30 (Extended Window): $11.99 flat fee deducted from refund.
-
Final Sale: Items marked "Final Sale" or from the "Last Call" collection are ineligible for return.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. The Standard: Condition Grading
We use a strict 4-tier system. Any character marks are photographed and described.
-
New: Brand new, unworn.
-
New with Imperfections: Unworn; minor cosmetic flaws from storage.
-
Secondhand — Excellent: Highest grade for reclaimed wear; minimal signs of use.
-
Secondhand — Good: Moderate, acceptable wear. Functional and stylish.
The Cleanliness Pledge: Every item is steamed inside and out. However, "Zero Surprises" means being blunt: items that are several decades old should not be expected to smell like new.

7. Haberdasher’s Advice: Garment Longevity
Respect the garment. Follow these rules to ensure your wardrobe survives the long haul.
-
Benign Neglect: Dry clean as little as possible. Chemicals strip natural oils from wool. Clean only for visible stains.
-
The Steam Standard: Never iron wool directly. Direct heat crushes fibers. Use steam to rehydrate.
-
Rotation: Never wear the same suit two days in a row. Fibers need 24 hours to recover their shape.
-
Ties: Untie the knot immediately after wear. Leaving it knotted overnight creates permanent, irreparable creases in the silk.
