Product Condition & Cleanliness Guide
A clear, honest breakdown of how we evaluate every item that enters Bearded Yankee.
New
Items that are brand new, unworn, and in perfect condition. These pieces come exactly as they were originally purchased and may include original tags or packaging when available.
New with Imperfections
Brand new items that have minor cosmetic or handling flaws that occurred in-store, during transport, or while in storage.
- Still unworn
- Fully functional
- Imperfections do not affect overall wearability
Typical examples may include a tiny mark, a loose thread, or a small packaging flaw. Any notable detail will be clearly photographed and described.
Secondhand — Excellent
Secondhand items that show very light or minimal signs of wear. These pieces look nearly new and have been inspected to ensure:
- No significant flaws
- No stains, tears, or major fabric wear
- Structure, color, and fit remain in premium condition
This is our highest grade for reclaimed menswear.
Secondhand — Good
Secondhand items that show moderate but perfectly acceptable wear from normal use.
These pieces remain fully functional and stylish, but may include:
- Light fading
- Minor fabric wear
- Small marks or signs of use
- Small repairs to item
Any notable wear will always be shown in photos and described honestly.

Our Cleanliness Standard
A clear, honest breakdown of how we ensure cleanliness of every item that enters Bearded Yankee and prior to shipment to our valued clients.
All items are steamed, inside and out, prior to dispatch. Unlike some abrasive cleaners, steam is both penetrating and gentle at the same time. By effectively rehydrating and breaking the bonds of muck and dirt, it's highly effective at spot-cleaning and deodorizing without rough treatment. Many manufacturers are now building steam technology into their latest washing machines and dryers. We recommend dry cleaning before storing items out of season, e.g. when putting overcoats away at the end of winter / spring.
Note: Even after steam or dry cleaning, items that are several decades old should not be expected to smell like new.
